The draw for the 2022 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship scheduled for May-June in Uganda has been conducted.
Eight teams that will be participating in the competition have been pooled into two groups where they will be fighting for the title that was won by Kenya when the tournament was last held in Tanzania.
Of the 11 CECAFA members, three of them will miss the tournament. Kenya is out by the virtue of being suspended by FIFA while Eritrea and Sudan opted against taking part in the annual competition.
The tournament, which will be staged at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru will be making a comeback after a three-year break due to Covid-19 but the holders Kenya will not participate with the country currently serving a FIFA suspension meaning we will have a new winner.
