AFC Leopards custodian Levis Opiyo has set his sights on helping the club end their near 25 year wait for a Kenyan Premier League title after agreeing to a new deal at the club.Shortly after signing over the dotted line, the goalkeeper who has played for record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, Nairobi City Stars and Western Stima expressed his delight in staying at the club as he told Mozzart Sport his ambition ahead of the coming 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.“I am happy to renew my contract at this beloved club. My plan is to continue from where I left and keep more clean sheets. My target for this season is to win a title. I know it will be hard but as a club we have not lost any player. That means the bond and chemistry is there already plus the coach so we are not starting over again which will make it easier for us as a team.I know talking is easy and delivering is something else but we will put all our efforts and work hard to deliver to our beautiful fanOn Wednesday evening, the 12 time Kenyan champions announced that Opiyo had signed a two year deal that will see him stay at the club till 2024 after joining back in November 2021 from Wazito.Ingwe last won a league title in 1998 and their wait for the top honours has failed to materialize since then with the closest they have come to success being the runners up position.In agreeing to the contract extension, Opiyo becomes the latest player to stay at Leopards who are currently serving a FIFA suspension which makes them unable to bring any new players to the club.The club have so far managed to keep hold of Jaffari Odenyi, Washington Munene, Peter Thiong’o and Cliff Nyakeya who all signed new deals. Collins Shivachi, Tedian Esilaba and Robert Mudenyu have also all signed one-year extensions.
