{"id":11907,"date":"2023-10-03T12:50:52","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T12:50:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=11907"},"modified":"2023-10-03T12:50:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T12:50:59","slug":"govt-suspends-all-non-essential-travel-sets-limits-for-delegations-on-foreign-trips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=11907","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t Suspends All Non-Essential Travel, Sets Limits For Delegations On Foreign Trips"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government has suspended all non-essential travel for government officials in a move aimed at regulating public spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"938\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11908\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-6.png 938w, https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-6-480x322.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 938px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government also announced restriction of delegations accompanying the President, Deputy President, the First Lady and Prime Cabinet Secretaries for foreign trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the notice, the suspended non-essential travels include benchmarking, study visits, trainings and related capacity-building initiatives as well as research, academic meetings and symposia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of Public Service Felix Koskei indicated that delegations headed by Cabinet Secretaries shall not exceed three persons including the Cabinet Secretary as Head of Delegation while delegations headed by Principal Secretaries, shall not exceed two persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delegations accompanying the President, the First Lady, the Deputy President, and the Prime Cabinet Secretary shall strictly be approved for officials playing a direct role in the scheduled activities\/programme of the principals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has been directed to rationalise the number of personnel accompanying each of the principals, and reduce the same by fifty per cent (50%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The notice has also capped the number of days for official travel to a maximum of seven days which includes the travel days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government has suspended all non-essential travel for government officials in a move aimed at regulating public spending.
