{"id":11917,"date":"2023-10-03T14:45:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T14:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=11917"},"modified":"2023-10-03T14:45:32","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T14:45:32","slug":"ex-kiambu-governor-waititu-fronts-new-proposal-to-protect-impeached-governors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=11917","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Kiambu Governor Waititu Fronts New Proposal to Protect Impeached Governors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11918\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-8.png 700w, https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/image-8-480x240.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 700px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has submitted new proposals to the National Dialogue Committee seeking to protect&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/news\/93298-raw-sewage-used-block-gate-ahead-amos-nyaribos-impeachment\">impeached governors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While making his submissions before the ceasefire talks team on Tuesday, Waititu proposed that impeached governors hounded out of office for various reasons should not be barred from running for office.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Governor claimed that Governors who do not align themselves with the ruling government tend to be targeted, hence calling for their protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waititu cited his own case as the best example of how partisan politics is affecting Governors across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waititu also called for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/news\/92117-mps-adopts-canadian-cdf-model-here-are-details\">Constituency Development Fund<\/a>&nbsp;(CDF) to be entrenched under a national body and have MPs become overseers only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Council of Governors (CoG) has also submitted similar proposals regarding removal of Governors from office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CoG has submitted that no motion of impeachment of governors should be introduced in a period of 12 months after and before elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has submitted new proposals to the National Dialogue Committee seeking to protect&nbsp;impeached governors.
