{"id":12139,"date":"2023-11-01T08:27:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T08:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=12139"},"modified":"2023-11-01T08:27:06","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T08:27:06","slug":"kenya-temporarily-stops-avocado-export","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=12139","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Temporarily Stops Avocado Export"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting from November 3, 2023, avocado exports from Kenya for the 2023\/2024 fiscal year will be suspended.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The directive comes after Kenya&#8217;s Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) ordered a halt on avocado shipments in a bid to ensure that quality produce is marketed locally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The measure, announced on October 31, aims to curb the practice of harvesting and exporting immature avocados, which had previously damaged the country&#8217;s export market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExport clearance (including fruit consignments from the EAC region) shall be granted for air shipment, subject to inspection by the Directorate.
