On Saturday night, a 32-year-old woman in Rachuonyo South, Homa Bay County, was arrested by the police for allegedly drowning her one-day-old infant in a pool of water and subsequently burying the child in a nearby farm. The arrest was prompted by suspicions raised by neighbors who observed the woman’s prolonged absence with her child. Concerned, they reported the situation to a village elder, leading to an investigation by Kamuma Sub-location Assistant Chief Collins Joram. It was uncovered that the woman gave birth on Thursday, January 11, and tragically, the infant passed away on Saturday, January 13. The suspect attempted to conceal the body by placing it in a box and burying it in a shallow grave covered with earth. According to Mr. Joram, the woman had a successful delivery at a house owned by a community health promoter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
