Oduor,of Eldoret Hospital mortuary, Kiptum sustained extensive skull fractures at the base of his skull leading to his demise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Oduor added that biological samples have been collected from the deceased for further analysis to determine whether any external factors played a role in his demise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family of Kiptum, on their side, expressed contentment with the results of the autopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiptum passed away on February 11 alongside his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana in a horrific road accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"318\" height=\"159\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Untitled-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Untitled-16.jpg 318w, https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Untitled-16-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tragic road crash occurred at around 11pm at Kaptagat area along Elgeyo Marakwet-Ravine road where Kiptum and Hakizimana died on the spot due to the impact of the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiptum rose to prominence in the world of athletics after registering the fastest marathon debut in Valencia in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 24-year-old star continued to rise in 2023 when he conquered the London Marathon with a course record of 2:01:25 in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"201\" height=\"251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/images-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13365\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiptum is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizen.digital\/sports\/kenya-marathon-star-kiptums-funeral-brought-forward-to-friday-n337074?preview=true&amp;user_id=749\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">set to be buried on Friday<\/a>, in what a Kenyan athletics official previously told AFP would be a &#8220;state function&#8221; attended by President William Ruto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funeral was initially set to be held on Saturday, but was brought forward by a day due to President Ruto\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to DR.
