Atellah addressed the press on Monday, April 15, stating that this decision came in response to threats made by the IG on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"284\" height=\"177\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Untitled-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14516\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that no threats, victimization, or intimidation would sway the doctors from their strike. Atellah called for constructive dialogue between the union and the government to reach a viable agreement. He criticized the recruitment of foreign doctors, citing the recent example at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral &amp; Research Hospital (KUTRRH), where the majority of foreign recruits failed proficiency tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Atellah urged the government to prioritize patient safety by addressing the doctors&#8217; demands through negotiation. Kenyans, including KMPDU chairperson Abidan Mwachi, condemned the IG&#8217;s remarks, accusing him of exacerbating tensions in the country.
