This decrease was attributed to inadequate communication with the public and poor management of critical issues affecting Kenyans. In contrast, DP Gachagua’s performance remained consistent, albeit low. He maintained a D, dropping from 48 percent in March to 42 percent in May.

The Infotrak report suggests that Gachagua’s poor performance was due to similar reasons as Ruto’s, with Gachagua scoring even lower on some factors. Most Kenyans surveyed felt that Gachagua failed in communicating his activities, executing his responsibilities, addressing issues, and improving operations in his office.

Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries also performed poorly, with the majority receiving grades of D, ranging between 48 percent and 41 percent. The Agriculture CS ranked the lowest with an E at 38 percent.

Notable exceptions in the report were Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, who earned a B at 60 percent, and Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, who received a C at 51 percent.

Additionally, the Infotrak survey included performance rankings for various institutions such as the Judiciary. In the May assessment, the Judiciary’s rating dropped from a B at 67 percent to a D at 46 percent. Similarly, both the National Assembly and Senate fell from a C at 53 percent to a D at 42 percent, while the opposition’s rating declined from a B at 62 percent to a D at 47 percent.

President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua received a grade of D in a performance evaluation published by the research firm Infotrak on Monday, June 10.
