Mbappe, who will join Real Madrid on a free transfer after his Paris St-Germain contract expires on June 30, expressed his disappointment but acknowledged the club&#8217;s stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mbappe, 25, had expressed his desire to compete in the Olympic Games. However, he was omitted from France&#8217;s provisional Olympic squad announced on June 3. Real Madrid stipulated that any player participating in Euro 2024 would be ineligible for the Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My club&#8217;s position was very clear, so from that moment on, I think I won&#8217;t be taking part in the Games,&#8221; said Mbappe, who will be a key player for France as they begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Austria in D\u00fcsseldorf on Monday. &#8220;That&#8217;s just the way it is, and I understand that too. I&#8217;m joining a new team in September, so it&#8217;s not the best way to start an adventure.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mbappe expressed his support for the French Olympic team, stating, &#8220;Now I think I&#8217;m going to wish this French team all the best. I&#8217;m going to watch every game. I hope they&#8217;ll bring home the gold medal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The men&#8217;s Olympic football competition, which allows each nation to include three over-age players in their under-23 squads, will commence on July 24, just 10 days after the Euro 2024 final, and will conclude on August 9, shortly before the start of the La Liga season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>France, two-time European champions, are among the favorites to win Euro 2024.
