He emphasized that the police have a crucial responsibility to ensure the safety and security of all Kenyans, particularly those serving in the judiciary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;What happened to Hon. Kivuti is unacceptable; it must never happen again. I urge the police to prioritize the safety of our judicial officers as they fulfill their duties,&#8221; the President added solemnly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monica Kivuti, the Principal Magistrate at Makadara Law Courts, was fatally shot in Court Room 9 last Thursday by Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto, the OCS of Londiani Police Station. The shooting reportedly occurred after Kipruto disagreed with the magistrate&#8217;s decision to deny bail to his wife, who was accused of obtaining Ksh2.9 million through fraudulent means. Kipruto was immediately neutralized by other police officers present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Ruto praised Kivuti as a dedicated and diligent judicial professional who served the nation with commitment. Following her tragic death, Chief Justice Martha Koome declared Tuesday, June 18, a day of mourning and ordered all courts to remain closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the incident, the National Police Service has pledged to collaborate closely with the Judiciary to bolster security measures for all judiciary personnel across the country.
