The court&#8217;s decision, made on Thursday afternoon, follows a petition filed earlier in the day by the Katiba Institute against the State Law Office, presented under a certificate of urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;In view of the Application dated 18\/07\/2024, a conservatory order is hereby issued restraining the Inspector-General of Police and all other persons within the National Police Service from applying or enforcing the impugned decision dated 17\/07\/2024,&#8221; read the court order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court further directed that the petitioners serve the application to the Police service by the close of business on Thursday, July 18. Respondents from the State Law Office were given until July 24 to file their responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting promptly, the High Court instructed the Acting Inspector-General of Police to communicate the suspension of the ban to all officers of the National Police Service and the general public by the end of Friday, July 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional proceedings in the case are scheduled for Monday, July 29, at 9:00 A.M., where further directions will be issued by the court.
