The adjournment aims to allow the prosecution more time to submit its arguments in the murder case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior Assistant DPP Peter Kiprop requested additional days to file a comprehensive application, citing readiness to proceed with the case but emphasizing the need for thorough submissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Mugure Thande, presiding over the case, directed the defense to file their opposing submissions by August 1, 2024. The judge set September 24, 2024, for parties to present their respective arguments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the proceedings, some defense counsel members were absent, prompting directives from the judge to ensure all legal representatives are informed of court rulings and deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ODPP&#8217;s application to deny bond highlighted concerns over flight risks, lack of permanent abodes, and potential witness interference among the suspects. It underscored the severity of the charges and the influence Mackenzie holds within his community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the ODPP has also appealed against Justice Thande&#8217;s decision to reduce the number of murder charges Mackenzie faces from 191 to not more than 12.
