Former Cabinet Secretary and current Senior Government Advisor, Moses Kuria, has demanded the arrest of Joyce Sang, Chief Health Officer of Uasin Gishu County, following her directive for county hospitals to begin charging patients for services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a post on X, Kuria expressed his discontent, writing, “Another candidate for jail.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The controversy arises as patients in Uasin Gishu are now required to pay for medical services out of pocket, despite being covered by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). This comes amid the ongoing transition to the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), which has led to confusion and financial strain on residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sang’s directive, affecting 192 county health facilities, has left many scrambling to cover medical costs they believed were already insured.
