National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang\u2019ula has criticized Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations Amin Mohammed over the growing number of abductions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking in Khuisero, Kakamega County, on Friday, Wetang\u2019ula condemned the National Police Service (NPS) for denying involvement in the ongoing abductions, terming the situation “unacceptable” and a return to the dark days of enforced disappearances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His remarks come a day after two men, allegedly abducted by police in December, were found dead at City Mortuary. Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau were among four men reported missing from Mlolongo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breaking ranks with many of President William Ruto\u2019s allies, Wetang\u2019ula took issue with top police bosses, who told a Nairobi court on Thursday that they had no knowledge of the missing men. \u201cThis denial by the police is not only worrying but also retrogressive,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
