Despite claiming she was unaware of the suitcase\u2019s contents, the Vietnamese court <strong>handed her a death sentence on March 6, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kenyan Government Under Pressure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Her sentencing has sparked <strong>outrage and concern<\/strong> in Kenya, with <strong>family, civil society groups, and political leaders<\/strong> calling for diplomatic intervention to <strong>commute her sentence<\/strong> or allow her to serve time in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her family, leading a <strong>relentless campaign<\/strong>, has pleaded for <strong>government intervention<\/strong>, expressing willingness for her to serve a jail term in Kenya instead. Meanwhile, <strong>lawmakers have raised the matter in Parliament<\/strong>, urging the government to act swiftly before Nduta faces <strong>execution by lethal injection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Vietnam\u2019s Tough Drug Laws<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Vietnam enforces <strong>some of the harshest drug laws in the world<\/strong>, with <strong>possession of over 600 grams of heroin or cocaine or more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine punishable by death<\/strong>. Nduta was caught with <strong>two kilograms of cocaine<\/strong>, placing her in the highest category of offenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite diplomatic efforts and public appeals, negotiations remain <strong>challenging<\/strong>, as <strong>Vietnam is known for its strict enforcement<\/strong> of drug-related crimes.
