Her deputy, <strong>Isaac Mutuma M\u2019Ethingia<\/strong>, was sworn in on <strong>Monday, March 17, 2025<\/strong>, marking the end of Mwangaza\u2019s turbulent tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Court Upholds Senate&#8217;s Decision<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mwangaza, who had <strong>survived several previous impeachment attempts<\/strong>, suffered a final blow on <strong>March 14<\/strong> when <strong>Justice Bahati Mwamuye<\/strong> dismissed her appeal, ruling that the <strong>Senate acted within the Constitution<\/strong> during her removal process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Meru County Assembly had accused Mwangaza<\/strong> of <strong>gross violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct, and abuse of office<\/strong>, allegations that were upheld by the <strong>majority of Senators<\/strong> during the impeachment vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Controversial Tenure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Elected as an <strong>independent candidate<\/strong> in the <strong>August 9, 2022 elections<\/strong>, Mwangaza made history but also faced <strong>constant clashes with MCAs<\/strong>. Her tenure was marked by <strong>political strife<\/strong>, including a controversial decision in <strong>September 2023<\/strong> to name a rehabilitated road after her husband, <strong>musician Murega Baichu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mwangaza had previously served as <strong>Meru County Woman Representative<\/strong> (2017-2022) and is also a <strong>bishop at Baite Family Fellowship Church<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Humble Beginnings to Politics<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before entering politics, Mwangaza and her husband struggled financially, even relocating to <strong>Ruai<\/strong> to sell <strong>onions and tomatoes<\/strong> after <strong>losing the 2013 Buuri MP race<\/strong>.
