The Director of the National Registration Bureau, Aggrey Masai<\/strong>, has announced new regulations<\/strong> for Kenyans applying for national identification documents, following President William Ruto\u2019s directive<\/strong> to waive application fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking in Nakuru<\/strong> during the launch of the renewed registration process at Shabab<\/strong>, Masai stated that first-time applicants<\/strong> will now be required to be accompanied by at least one parent<\/strong> before being issued an ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, local administration officers, preferably a Chief<\/strong>, will conduct verification<\/strong> to confirm the parent-child relationship<\/strong> before an application is approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new directives<\/strong>, the National Registration Bureau<\/strong> and the government will hold Chiefs legally liable<\/strong> if any non-Kenyan<\/strong> is issued with an identity document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
