{"id":17442,"date":"2025-03-20T08:51:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T08:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=17442"},"modified":"2025-03-20T08:51:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T08:51:26","slug":"ntsa-suspends-super-metro-license-over-safety-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=17442","title":{"rendered":"NTSA Suspends Super Metro License Over Safety Violations."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"568\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2023-04-21-at-09.44.17-1024x568.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2023-04-21-at-09.44.17-980x544.png 980w, https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2023-04-21-at-09.44.17-480x266.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)<\/strong> has <strong>suspended Super Metro Limited\u2019s operator license<\/strong> until the company fully complies with the <strong>Public Service Vehicles (PSV) Regulations, 2014<\/strong> and other set conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an official notice dated <strong>Thursday, March 20<\/strong>, NTSA <strong>warned the public against boarding Super Metro vehicles<\/strong> and directed <strong>traffic police to impound any non-compliant vehicles<\/strong> operating under the popular matatu Sacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>comprehensive audit<\/strong> by NTSA revealed that out of <strong>Super Metro\u2019s 523 vehicles<\/strong>, at least:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>15<\/strong> had <strong>expired inspection certificates<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>8<\/strong> had <strong>expired Road Service Licenses (RSL)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>42 drivers<\/strong> had repeated <strong>speed violations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Several drivers<\/strong> lacked the required qualifications, posing <strong>a major safety risk<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the license is reinstated, <strong>Super Metro must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Present <strong>294 vehicles<\/strong> for a <strong>compliance inspection<\/strong> at the <strong>Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retest <strong>42 drivers<\/strong> with <strong>speed violations<\/strong> at the <strong>Likoni Driver Test Centre<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit <strong>signed contracts<\/strong> for all drivers and staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a <strong>six-month record<\/strong> of <strong>staff payroll, PAYE, NSSF, and NHIF remittances<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crackdown follows <strong>a series of road accidents<\/strong> involving Super Metro vehicles, with <strong>a recent fatal incident on March 12<\/strong>, where a <strong>tout allegedly pushed a passenger off a moving bus<\/strong> over an unpaid fare.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended Super Metro Limited\u2019s operator license until the company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles (PSV) Regulations, 2014 and other set conditions.
