The Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), Agnes Wahome, has shed light on the growing trend of university-qualified students choosing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs over traditional degree courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during an interview with the media on Tuesday, April 8<\/strong>, Wahome attributed the shift to lower entry requirements<\/strong> and high market demand<\/strong> for technical skills. She revealed that over 7,000 students who scored C+ and above<\/strong> in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) had already applied for TVET courses by March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS)<\/strong> data, the most sought-after TVET courses include electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, hospitality and culinary arts<\/strong>, and automotive engineering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
