What that all means is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/health.usnews.com\/conditions\/heart-disease\/high-blood-pressure\">high blood pressure<\/a>&nbsp;doesn\u2019t cause obvious symptoms that patients \u2014 or doctors \u2014 can readily detect by observation alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue is that if high blood pressure isn\u2019t caught and controlled, it can eventually cause serious health damage including<a href=\"https:\/\/health.usnews.com\/conditions\/heart-disease\">&nbsp;heart disease<\/a>&nbsp;and<a href=\"https:\/\/health.usnews.com\/conditions\/heart-disease\/articles\/what-are-the-warning-signs-of-a-stroke\">&nbsp;stroke<\/a>. Early in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/health.usnews.com\/conditions\/coronavirus-and-your-health\/articles\/latest-treatments-for-covid-19\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>, people with high blood pressure fared worse in terms of severe illness, hospitalization and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the flip side, certain conditions like sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure and its consequences.
