{"id":9965,"date":"2022-12-14T05:25:52","date_gmt":"2022-12-14T05:25:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=9965"},"modified":"2022-12-14T05:25:55","modified_gmt":"2022-12-14T05:25:55","slug":"cs-murkomen-issues-3-orders-following-deadly-accident-on-nakuru-eldoret-highway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/?p=9965","title":{"rendered":"CS Murkomen issues 3 orders following deadly accident on Nakuru-Eldoret highway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CS Murkomen in a statement said he had ordered the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to implement actions that would curb the occurrence of such accidents.Murkomen gave three orders to the transport authority which he said would be part of the long-term plans to see the reduction of similar accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have this evening instructed the Kenya National Highways Authority to immediately implement adequate measures to forestall any such accidents.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The actions to be undertaken include installation of observe lane discipline signs from both approaches of the three lanes, installation of 50KPH speed limit on both approaches and use of speed guns by police to enforce the law,\u201d read the statement by CS Murkomen released on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"831\" height=\"625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1000207884-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9968\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1000207884-1.jpg 831w, https:\/\/www.getufm.co.ke\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/1000207884-1-480x361.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 831px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides the eight that perished, 23 were seriously injured and rushed to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital.According to witnesses, the accident occurred when a truck rammed into the two vehicles which were headed in opposite directions.\u201cBoth matatus had 14 passengers each on board, police who immediately arrived at the same confirmed eight people dead and 23 people were rushed to hospital in critical condition,\u201d Nakuru West OCPD Edward Ogware said.Residents of the area said the accidents have become rampant adding that the area has become a black spot.\u201cWe recently lost three students on this road who were knocked down by a lorry, Ngata bridge has become a blackspot for accidents.
