Maara Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki and Tharaka Nithi County Assembly Speaker John Mbabu are facing allegations of meddling in the elections of bodaboda operators.On Tuesday, a conflict erupted outside Kathwana social hall as two factions of the Maara Constituency Bodaboda Operators’ Association, who had gathered for county elections, clashed. This situation prompted intervention from the Kathwana Police Station.Martin Kinyua, the chairman of Mitheru ward, accused Loyford Munene, the constituency’s chairman (known as Kawasaki), of collaborating with MP Mbiuki to manipulate the election. Kinyua claimed that before the voting began, Kawasaki and some bodaboda leaders from Maara and Chuka/Igambang’ombe met with Mbabu and Kinegeni, Mbiuki’s personal assistant, at Kajuki Eco-Lodge.
