Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured that the government is committed to constructing the remaining phases of the Standard Gauge Railway to include Kisumu and Malaba border through Uganda to Rwanda, DRC.

The government, as affirmed by Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, is dedicated to completing the remaining sections of the Standard Gauge Railway, which will stretch from Kisumu to the Malaba border, subsequently linking with Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Murkomen made this announcement during the Dutch Trade Mission on Port Development, emphasizing that private investment will play a role, and the expansion will also involve the establishment of logistics hubs and industrial parks
