Egypt national football team is in deep crisis. Since 2010, they have not won even the AFCON TROPHY ,lost the finals in this year’s competition, they failed to qualify for the 2022 World cup and they have just sacked their coach, just two months after his promotion. After the Football Federation announced that the next coach will (again) be a foreigner, some domestic journalists reached out to the most successful Egypt manager ever – Hassan Shehata. Former player and coach (retired in 2021) still holds the record for winning three consecutive AFCON’s: 2006, 2008, and 2010. He is one of only two coaches to win the Africa Cup 3 times, along with Ghana’s Charles Gyamfi. So, when he has something to say, the nation listens. And his words were: Salah didn’t do anything for the national team, and Carlos Queiroz was his choice as manager, as they both share the same manager.
