Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has unveiled a plan to implement drone technology, which will expedite the testing of samples in Tharaka Nithi hospitals, thereby enhancing healthcare in the county. For example, a drone will be able to transport samples from Chuka hospital to Marimanti hospital in just 20 minutes and return the samples to Chuka for testing within the same time frame. This initiative aims to boost the efficiency of laboratory testing, reducing costs and saving time for local residents. Additionally, Governor Njuki has also announced the upcoming launch of Geo technology to map every household in the county. A dedicated software is already in place for this purpose, and Community Health Promoters will receive training in handling GIS information. This technology will help ensure that health facilities are appropriately stocked with medications, minimizing waste and ensuring that residents receive the prescribed drugs as needed.
