The CS calls for an end to violence and arson disguised as political protests in Nairobi City and parts of the Nyanza Region.- Criminals posing as political protesters responding to opposition leaders’ calls to demonstrate have engaged in violent and disorderly conduct, endangering national security.- Several incidents of violence and arson were reported, including the burning of a public service vehicle, the forcible stoppage and burning of a lorry, an attack on a petrol station, and the looting of private properties.- Riotous mobs also interfered with the flow of traffic and damaged motor vehicles and other public amenities, such as roads.- The National Police Service has determined that the protests pose a clear and imminent danger to the peace and public order, and organizers of protests have failed to assist the police in maintaining peace and order.- The police have been compelled to prevent the demonstrators from unleashing violence and terror on the public, pursuant to Section 5(2), (6), and (10) of the Public Order Act.- The situation poses a grave danger to the rule of law and the stability of the country and must be stopped.- Security agencies have been instructed to enforce the law firmly and decisively, and all criminals, regardless of their political affiliation, must be brought to justice.- 14 suspects were arrested in connection with the criminal activities in Nairobi, while 32 were arrested in the Nyanza region, and all suspects will be arraigned in court today.-
