African’s 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala will not compete at the Golden Spike Continental Tour meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on Tuesday, May 31 against his idol Yohan Blake.
According to Capital Sports, the organizers of the Golden Spike meet confirmed that the Kenyan will not be in Ostrava, with the same being confirmed by his absence from the start list for the 100m race.
Earlier, Juck had confirmed that Omanyala would be taking to the Ostrava track where she would also have been up against former Africa record holder over the distance Akani Simbine whom he beat in Germiston a month ago after clocking 9.98 during the third leg of the ASA Athletics Grand Prix Series.
About his absence in Ostrava, Omanyala said that he has opted to forego the race so that he concentrates on getting ready for the Africa Athletics Championship set for June 8-12 in Mauritius.
