Nicholas Mwiti, a man charged with manslaughter after killing another on November 30, 2022, has been jailed for 10 years.
Mwiti has pleaded guilty to slashing Geoffrey Muriungi after a conflict, before Chuka High Court Judge Justice Lucy Gitari
According to the accused, Muriungi, who was drunk,had taken his fish forcefully and declined to pay Ksh 20 for the fish and he (Muriungi) turned away people who wanted to help him pay for the fish.
Mwiti argued that the deceased, who was drunk, turned away locals who were volunteering to help him pay Ksh.30 for the fish. A conflict arose between the two and Mwiti quickly went for a panga that he used to hack Muriungi, who succumbed shortly. Muriungi’s mother Margret Kaindu said she will be seeking compensation for his late son, who left behind young kids that are now giving her hard time to raise
