Growing up in Meru we were told mythical stories about Ngirani the ladies that were to be avoided. A young man would die if he marries ngirani.
It was said ngirani are offspring of father and daughter, girls who were born feet first instead of head and whose upper teeth grew before lower teeth.
Ngirani was a manifestation of bad omen they were therefore supposed to be married by old men as second or third wives.
