This was witnessed when, yesterday he instantaneously promoted a prison officer on the spot in a highly unexpected move after showcasing talent on poetry and spoken word skills.

The prison officer was evidently overjoyed as CS Kindiki pinned the new badge on him and handed him a staff, as a symbol of his new rank. He was promoted to promoted from the rank of constable to a corporal.
The CS was on a visit to mwea prisons where he addressed the prison over population and a plan for decongestion which targets 50% reduction of the now prison population and an allocation of funds to improve/upgrade prison facilities.
“What we are having is disastrous. We have almost double the capacity than our prisons are supposed to hold, and it is not fair,” he said.
