A fresh showdown was looming between Azimio and Kenya kwanza after the midnight ultimatum issued by Azimio for the Government to withdraw the finance bill 2023 among other demands lapsed yesternight unacted upon. Speaking on the same day that the demands were given, during an interview with TV 47, Malala revealed that the President had chosen to disregard in totality the demands made by Azimio and concentrate on his mandate. he continued to warn that the government cannot take instructions nor bow to opposition demands.

Azimio la Umoja Coalition has since decided to lift the previously set midnight deadline. The coalition has expressed their willingness to participate in bipartisan negotiations, indicating a potential shift towards cooperation.

Speaking to journalists yesterday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga foundation Nairobi, after the Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by former prime minister Raila Odinga , national assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi said that Kenya Kwanza had not yet conclusively addressed any of their four concerns. Yesterday Azimio made fresh demands for the withdrawal of the 2023 finance bill which they termed anti- people and gave an ultimatum to go with it.

Since then it seems that Azimio leaders and Kenya kwanza have come to an agreement that may see bi-partisan talks resume and demonstrations not resume. So the highly anticipated Maandamano will not be happening and Ruto’s Kenya kwanza seems to have won this round of political psychological war.
