As the Petroleum regulator announced another hike in fuel prices effective Friday, September 15, several Kenyans have expressed frustration over the ever rising cost of living.
In the latest review, petrol prices have shot up by almost Ksh17, pushing the price per litre in Nairobi to Ksh211.64.
This, just shortly after the price was hiked to reflect the government’s move to raise VAT on petroleum products from 8% to 16%.
A section of Kenyans said they were now seeking divine intervention to help them make ends meet following the high cost of living.
“I have three children under the age of 10 and the school fees and general upkeep is costly. Then when I see the cost of things rising every day, I don’t need a reminder to take my contraceptives. I cannot afford to have more children with this economy.” one kenyan said.
