The Azimio Coalition has criticized the US government for endorsing the dispatch of Kenyan police to Haiti, even though the High Court had halted the initiative the previous week.

The coalition led by Raila Odinga accused the Biden administration of interfering in the country’s affairs by not adhering to its rule of law. During a press conference after the first Azimio Coalition Summit this year, opposition leaders expressed disappointment in the U.S. statement supporting the deployment of Kenya’s police to Haiti. Martha Karua, a co-Principal in Azimio, called on foreign interests to stay out of Kenya’s matters, emphasizing the importance of respecting the judiciary in the deployment of police to Haiti. The coalition asserted unity and resilience against President William Ruto’s attempt to sow discord within its ranks.
