A middle-aged woman is fighting for her life at Naivasha Level 4 Hospital after suffering a vicious assault perpetrated by her estranged husband. The brutal attack, which involved the splashing of boiling water and stabbing with a knife, has left the victim in critical condition, prompting shock and outrage in the community.
According to Pauline Wanjiku, her husband, who is a former AP officer now working with Nakuru County government has since gone into hiding.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Wanjiku said the county enforcement worker arrived home drunk, boiled water and without provocation splashed it on her, after an argument.
Wanjiku’s mother Regina Njeri said it was not the first time he had attacked the victim.
Peter Njihia, a brother to the victim termed the suspect as very dangerous person especially when drunk, adding that he had been arrested in the past on several occasions.
