Principal Secretary for Housing, Charles Hinga, has issued a directive for residents residing in six estates located in the Eastlands area of Nairobi to vacate their homes. The order, conveyed through a letter addressed to the Lands Cabinet Secretary, Alice Wahome, identifies the affected areas as Jogoo Road Phase I & II, Jamaa, Mbotela, Ahero, and Mawenzi Gardens.
Hinga further revealed that the affected families had lived in old government houses and have until April 30, 2024, to leave.
Furthermore, the PS instructed occupants to surrender vacant possession to the Director of Estate Management. Tenants are required to settle all outstanding rent arrears, utility bills, and service charges as part of the eviction process.
