During Lawrence Gitonga’s arraignment at the Makadara Law Courts on Thursday, the prosecution requested additional time to conclude murder investigations.

The request stems from ongoing efforts by detectives assigned to the case. Gitonga was apprehended on March 2 following a report by the caretaker in the Kivulini area of Kasarani, who discovered the body of a deceased female adult near the White House apartment.

The victim has been identified as Juanta Mbulwa Nzomo. Upon responding to the scene, officers suspected that the woman had been thrown from the tenth floor of the apartment building where she had rented a room with the suspect.

Upon arrival at the apartment, they discovered the suspect inside with multiple stab wounds, and the house itself was in disarray, with blood splattered throughout.

The suspect was initially taken to Uhai Neema Hospital for first aid before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment. He was discharged from the hospital on March 6 in stable condition and subsequently detained at Kasarani police station.

Exclusive CCTV footage obtained by media houses captured the final moments of the pair, showing them checking into the apartment around 3 a.m. on Saturday after a night of partying. Lawrence Gitonga is seen in the footage leaving the lift on the 10th floor while holding the hand of the 19-year-old victim.
