A tragic incident unfolded in Trans Nzoia on Friday as a 28-year-old woman fell victim to a fatal stabbing allegedly perpetrated by a man believed to be her romantic partner.
The heartbreaking event occurred at the Kiminini business center within Trans Nzoia. In the aftermath of the attack, enraged locals retaliated by assaulting the suspect, inflicting severe injuries. However, law enforcement officers intervened, rescuing the suspect from further harm.
John Onditi, the Officer in Charge of Police Department (OCPD) in Kiminini, confirmed the distressing incident, revealing that the assailant assaulted the woman at her place of work, repeatedly stabbing her with a knife. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the woman tragically succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the altercation may have originated from an earlier dispute between the suspect and the victim, culminating in the fatal attack at her workplace.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the St. Michael Kiminini Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
Meanwhile, the suspected assailant is currently receiving medical attention at the Trans Nzoia District Hospital.
In response to the tragic incident, Onditi issued a plea for couples to seek amicable resolutions to their conflicts instead of resorting to violence, emphasizing the grave consequences that such actions can entail, including loss of life and grievous injuries.
