Some leaders from Kirinyaga County have suggested NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua should assume leadership of the Azimio coalition if Raila is elected as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Maina asserted that Karua, who was Odinga’s running mate in the 2022 General Election, is the most suitable candidate to succeed him. Maina praised Karua’s integrity and global acclaim for her character.
There have been discussions about whether Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka or Martha Karua will be endorsed as the Azimio flagbearer in the 2027 General Election.
Other notable figures under consideration include former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho from Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and DAP-K party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.
Martha Karua has previously weighed in on succession politics, advising Kalonzo Musyoka to concentrate on his own campaign rather than attempting to diminish her political stature.
