Reports indicate that a suspected terrorist attack in Mandera on Monday morning resulted in the tragic death of a police officer among four individuals. The incident occurred when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at approximately 11 am local time at the Mama Samaki Hotel in Mandera.
As a result of the explosion, eleven other individuals sustained severe injuries. Mandera Police Commander Samwel Mutunga confirmed the incident, stating that two of the injured individuals are in critical condition and are currently undergoing treatment at the Mandera County Referral Hospital.
Mutunga further mentioned that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are actively pursuing crucial leads to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack
