A solemn atmosphere enveloped the Mai Mahiu area in Naivasha Sub-county as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua led the nation in mourning the 62 victims of the recent deluge, which left behind a path of devastation.

Emotions ran high at the venue of the funeral service, where photos of the deceased were displayed on a board. Leaders, including sitting governors, Senators, Members of Parliament, and local ward representatives, paid their respects to the victims.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, alongside other leaders, family members, relatives, and hundreds of mourners, expressed condolences and assured continued assistance to the families of the deceased and the survivors.

Notable figures present at the memorial included Water Cabinet Secretary Zacharia Njeru, Nyandarua Governor Moses Ndirangu Badilisha, Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, Gilgil MP Martha Wangare, and Dagoretti MP Beatrice Elachi, among others.

The death toll from the flood tragedy has climbed to 62, with over 30 people still missing. Families affected by the disaster have urged the government to expedite the resettlement process, as conditions in the camps remain challenging.
