Raisi’s death that occurred on Sunday 19th 2024 was confirmed in a statement on social media by Vice President Mohsen Mansouri. Along President Rais, the others who perished in the crash include; Foreign Minister Hossein Amir, Governor of Eastern Azerbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, Tabriz’s Iman Mohammad Ali Alehashen, the pilot, the copilot , the crew chief, the head of security and the bodyguard.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has confirmed First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber as the country’s acting president after Rais’s death. He also reassured Iranians saying there would be no disruption to state affairs.
