Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Friday denied rumors that he plans to resign from his current government position.

In a statement, the outspoken CS labeled the post suggesting his imminent resignation as fake news from a fraudulent X account. He urged Kenyans to disregard these rumors and to report accounts spreading such misinformation.

“It has come to my attention that a fake X account has been spreading false information and opinions wrongly attributed to me. Please note that this account does not belong to me,” CS Kuria clarified. “Report, unfollow, and block the fake account. Thank you for your support and vigilance! Let’s combat misinformation together,” he added.

The fake post alleged that the CS threatened to resign because President William Ruto had abandoned Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to the flagged post, President Ruto had distanced himself from the DP and started collaborating with opposition-aligned politicians.

“The reason Ruto is opposing our son Rigathi Gachagua is that the opposition is now collaborating with the government,” the flagged post read.

“I will resign from my position as Cabinet Secretary and focus on supporting my brother Rigathi Gachagua, who is advocating for the unity of our region,” the fake post claimed.

It also alleged that CS Kuria intended to run for the Gatundu South Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 General Election. These allegations come amidst an intensifying political supremacy battle in the Mt Kenya region, which has reportedly led politicians to take sides.

This comes just a week after the CS missed the Mt Kenya leaders’ caucus meeting called Limuru 3, attended by several politicians from the Mt Kenya region.
