President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to Kenyan leaders against using ethnic politics while trying to seek support from the public. He added that ethnic divisions will only backtrack the country’s progress . He promised to not allow the nation to go back into the past mentioning the 2007-2008 post- election violence that was caused by tribal fights.

He also asserted that his government will ensure equal share of development in every region to ensure national unity and cohesion. He urged the elected leaders not to sleep in their jobs rather than to work towards the collective good of all Kenyans and to promote development in the country.

He firmly stated that he his devoted to promote development and there is no room for tribal politics in his government. The president’s remarks come from growing concerns over the escalating ethnic tensions in the country caused by said fall out between him and the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
