Raila Odinga’s Curriculum Vitae is set to be translated into six different languages in readiness for his nomination for the African Union Chairman position.
Raila disclosed that the Secretariat is diligently refining his resume to align with the criteria for this esteemed continental post. “At present, the team is completing preparatory and application documents along with the required translations of the resume into six AU languages (French, English, Kiswahili, Arabic, Portuguese, and Spanish) for submission to the AU Secretariat by the end of June 2024,” Raila declared.
The Secretariat, a cadre of experienced and skilled officers established by the State Department for Foreign Affairs, comprises the campaign secretariat and the candidate’s strategy team. This dedicated team has also crafted an evidence-based campaign strategy that pinpoints opportunities, challenges, and risks linked to Raila’s candidacy.
“The campaign further includes outreach initiatives to AU member state capitals, briefings for Kenya Missions abroad, and interactions with the Diplomatic Corps in Nairobi,” the statement read. The government voiced confidence in Raila’s candidacy, emphasizing his qualifications, dedication to advocating for Africa’s interests on a global scale, and his drive to foster more opportunities for the continent and its inhabitants, setting him apart from other contenders.
At a joint press briefing, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi revealed that senior government officials had held a consultative meeting with Raila and his team to evaluate the campaign’s preparedness.
“During this meeting, we exchanged insights on the current progress of the quest, the preparations from both my end and the government’s end, and the forthcoming steps,” Raila remarked.
Mudavadi announced that the government had formed a campaign secretariat to work in tandem with the opposition leader to ensure he secures the esteemed continental position. Speaking at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Nairobi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary confirmed that the William Ruto administration would endorse the candidate and provide any needed support.
The Azimio la Umoja Leader praised the government and senior politicians for backing his ambitions and setting aside partisan political differences.
