The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced the closure of a runway at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) due to an incident involving a faulty plane that landed earlier today.
In a brief statement, KAA confirmed that the incident did not result in any injuries. Efforts to remove the aircraft from the runway are currently underway. Affected passengers are being urged to remain calm as the airport works to restore normal services.
“An aircraft incident has caused runway closure at JKIA. No injuries have been reported. Removal of the aircraft is underway,” KAA stated. “We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will provide updates shortly,” the statement added.
The closure means that flights will be unable to access one of Africa’s largest airports until the wreckage is cleared and the runway is reopened.
