Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki expressed concerns on Wednesday, June 12, over the behavior of Kenya Kwanza leaders at presidential events. Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County, Kindiki noted a troubling trend where politicians hire hecklers to attend President William Ruto’s events, directing them to jeer certain speakers and cause embarrassment.

Kindiki warned that security agencies would be vigilant and ready to address such indiscipline, promising to handle it firmly as was done during last year’s anti-government protests. “I have noticed that some leaders who belong to the president’s political faction have now become indisciplined. We have seen during the President’s visit, that people are bringing chaos and embarrassment. Let us have order and respect. When you bring people in a bus to heckle others, you are becoming a clown. You are not embarrassing the President, because it looks bad on you,” Kindiki stated.

He urged the leaders to unite, speak with a common voice, and address the issues affecting their constituents constructively.

Additionally, Kindiki addressed the ongoing debate on the “one-man, one-vote, one-shilling” policy, which has been criticized as a tribal debate. He cautioned leaders against promoting discrimination and emphasized that all Kenyans deserve equal development opportunities. “Any person of whatever nature who undermines the security and security of Kenya is an enemy by nature. The government under President Ruto does not condone sectional and sectarian discrimination. Anybody who tells people about their tribe is an enemy of the country and the police will be alert to deal with them,” he stated.

Kindiki has been a vocal opponent of the “one-man, one-shilling” policy championed by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This stance has drawn criticism from other leaders and even the Head of State. Nonetheless, Kindiki remains firm in his opposition, advocating for unity and equal treatment for all Kenyans.
