The Wiper Democratic Movement party has announced that it will take disciplinary action against its Members of Parliament who defied the party’s directive and supported the contentious Finance Bill 2024.

In a concise statement, the party underscored its position, stating that it had instructed all its legislators to vote against the bill. MPs who went against this directive will now face consequences. The party emphasized its unwavering commitment to this stance, stressing that no exceptions would be made once the disciplinary process commences.

Among those identified for disciplinary action is Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, who recently voted in favor of the Finance Bill, directly contravening the party’s directive.

“All our MPs were instructed to reject the Finance Bill 2024, and that is on record. There were no exemptions,” read part of a statement by Wiper Party. “Choices have consequences not just for the two, but for all who betrayed Kenyans.”

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka praised Kenyan youths for their protests against the bill, which he described as unreasonable, unsound, and uncorrectable. Kalonzo accused police officers of using force to intimidate peaceful protesters exercising their constitutional rights to picket and demonstrate.

“You have publicly expressed your displeasure with this dishonest and insensitive Kenya Kwisha regime, whose primary purpose appears to be embezzling your hard-earned money,” Kalonzo stated. “Every hour, my admiration and appreciation for Kenya’s #GenZ grow by leaps and bounds.”

Kalonzo also commended the 115 members of parliament who voted against the bill.
