President William Ruto on Friday dismissed public calls to overhaul the entire cabinet and make fresh appointments. Speaking during a live session on X Space, Ruto clarified that he would consider other means to address public concerns regarding some cabinet secretaries.

“I will not dissolve the Cabinet because I am in the process of looking at things differently,” President Ruto stated.

Ruto emphasized that he had lined up several interventions to address controversies affecting his cabinet’s reputation. He also warned cabinet secretaries against engaging in corrupt activities, stating he was ready to fire any minister facing court charges over graft allegations.

“Several staff of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) are in court to answer for their involvement in the fertilizer scandal. The day any CS is taken to court, I will fire them,” Ruto declared. “If there are verified allegations against a minister or any state official and they are taken to court, I will fire them. I will not wait for the court process.”

Ruto also vowed to take action on alleged police abductions and the maltreatment of suspects arrested during anti-government demonstrations. His clarification comes amidst calls by the public for the dismissal of some Cabinet Secretaries due to alleged non-performance.

During recent anti-government protests, one of the key demands raised by protesters was for Ruto to take action against certain government officials. This sentiment was echoed by senators, led by Kakamega lawmaker Boni Khalwale, who called for the immediate dismissal of all cabinet secretaries over allegations of incompetency and the disbandment of unconstitutional offices within the government, including the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
