Azimio la Umoja Coalition Principal Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned a section of Kenyans for allegedly cyberbullying former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Speaking at the Pan African Youth Convention, Musyoka recounted how Odinga’s phone was bombarded with messages following his recent meeting with President William Ruto.

Musyoka, the Wiper party leader, revealed that Odinga had to change his phone number due to the overwhelming number of messages and calls. He urged Kenyans to show kindness towards the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.

“I spoke to my big brother Hon. Raila Odinga on my way here, people went to visit him yesterday. And when they visited Baba, he had to change his telephone number,” Musyoka said. “Because the Gen Z put his number everywhere. Maybe it’s a measure of cyberbullying, please be kind to Baba. If they can do that to Raila Odinga, imagine who else in this country.”

Despite this incident, Musyoka praised the Kenyan youth for their persistence in advocating for social change. He noted that recent protests led by Generation Z had achieved social cohesion, something that had eluded major political parties and civil organizations for a long time.

“We need to clap for Gen Zs, imagine they have taken over what the NCIC and political parties failed to do,” Musyoka stated.

President William Ruto and Raila Odinga held a press briefing outside KICC on Tuesday, July 9, 2023, highlighting their recent discussions and efforts to foster unity in the country.
